Halloween Starts Early in Our House

On Saturday, October 24 I did a practice run on the girls hair and make-up for Halloween...I think they are looking pretty good!

Kera is extra lucky...she got to dress-up at school TWO TIMES! Of course she could not be the same thing two days in a row so on Tuesday, October 27th Kera borrowed Abby's costume from a few years ago, Rapunzel.

On Wednesday she wore her Padme costume. I decided to have her wear a tank top under it for warmth and school modesty. As I suspected, most people did not know who she was but, she didn't care. Everyone just thought she was a pretty princess.

On Thursday the 29th it was finally Abby's turn. She didn't get to wear her costume to school but they got to bring it with them to change into it for their party in the afternoon. Even though she did not get to wear her costume to school she did get to bring in a specially decorated pumpkin. As a homework assignment they had to decorate a pumpkin as a book character...guess who she picked?

Princess Lea of course!!

We also had to stop by Starbucks for breakfast...special fun days should start off with hot chocolate!

I was lucky enough to be able to help out at Abby's class Halloween party! It was so much fun to see all her classmates dressed-up.

Who's Walking Who?

After a nice long visit from Burr's and Pepe it was time for them to head home but first...Burr's and I had time for one more trip to the dog park. When we were leaving the park Ellie learned a new trick...

...Ellie is holding Chewy's leash and I am holding Ellie's leash...convenient.

I am very thankful for my parents and the time they spend with us...until next time.

Lost Bird

My dad didn't get into town soon enough on Saturday, October 17th to see Abby's soccer game but he was able to come to a practice with me the following Tuesday. While we were at practice we found a lost pet bird. Yes, a lost bird! It was obvious that it was domesticated because of its type, that it was not able to fly very well, and it was easy to catch.

We had no idea what to do with the bird but we did know we had to do something...this bird was not meant for the wild. We tried to call a vet, a pet store, and an animal shelter but since it was after business hours we were unable to find a place to take the bird. For a while we had the bird in Abby's soccer bag.

Luckily as the girls started getting picked up from practice one of the mom's said that her mom has birds for pets and that she was willing to take the bird...thank goodness! A new home for our feathered friend.

Soccer, Festival, and Pumpkins!

On Saturday, October 17th Abby had a soccer game...

In the afternoon it was off to Kera's school for their Harvest Festival. Jim walked the girls around while Burr's and I worked the booth for Kera's class.

Also on Saturday, Pepe arrived in town...busy day!

On Sunday we headed out to Gilcrease Orchard to find our Halloween pumpkins.

This year we also picked some fresh veggies.

The girls played in the  hay maze.

And we found some amazing pumpkins!

Tooth #2

On Monday, October 13th Abby lost her second tooth. It was VERY wiggly and probably would have fallen out over the weekend but Abby really wanted to lose it at school. Toward the end of the day Abby got a tissue and pulled out her own tooth...like I said, she really wanted to lose it at school.

After she pulled out her tooth she went to the nurses office and they gave her a tooth treasure chest.

Before bed Abby wrote a thank-you note to the tooth fairy for treasure she received for her first tooth and also a note about her new tooth. The notes said...

Thanx Lilleana for the coyn. give this to lile ana

(Lilly Anna was the name of her first tooth fairy.)

Thanx for getting my tooth it is yor tooth nowa

She tucked the notes and the tooth chest into her tooth pillow and headed off to bed.

In the morning Abby fount a certificate of record and two $1 gold coins from the tooth fairy. This time her tooth fairy was named Rose Marie.

Burrs!!!

On Monday, October 5th my mom came to town for an extended stay. Unfortunately, it was not the most exciting trip for Burrs but she sure did help me with my weekly routines.

On Tuesday we have soccer practice.

On Wednesday we have a standing play date with Kera's preschool friends.

On Thursday Burrs helped Jim hold down the fort while I was off at class.

On Friday we have another soccer practice.

On Saturday Abby had a soccer game.  Abby did a great job as goalie leading the Ladybugs to a win.

On Sunday we went to my first, and last, ever renaissance festival. It was extremely hot on Sunday and the festival was a bit lack luster but, we tried to make the best of it!

Best parts of the festival was the HUGE pizza slices...

...and the jousting bout.

I have always wanted to go to a renaissance festival and I am glad we went now...my curiosity has been quenched.

Next week my mom will still be with us to experience another full week with us.
