51s

On Sunday, May 24th we went to our first 51s game of the season. We had a GREAT time.

The girls were VERY excited about singing, Take Me Out To The Ball Game...they had been practicing at home for days. But, when it came time to sing at the game they both were mute. Funny girls...maybe next time.

They we also excited and confused about dumping their peanut shells on the ground. We have talked to them so much about littering that they were really concerned that if they dropped their shells on the ground they would get in trouble. We happily explained to them that baseball games have different rules. They were happy to comply.

We are looking forward to heading out the ball game again soon!

Great Hike

On Saturday, May 23rd we headed to Calico Basin for a hike. Even though we ran into some sprinkles; it was a beautiful day for a hike!

8 Years!

On May 19th Jim and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary. It is hard to believe, 8 years!

When I think back at all that we have seen, done, and experienced in last 8 years I am thoroughly amazed. I am looking forward to many more adventures in the years to come!

Fuzzys

I think they are starting to tolerate each other (May 15th)...

Night of Art and Song

On Thursday night of May 14th we headed to Kera's school for a night of art, singing, and spaghetti.

First the art...every class made an art tree. Kera's class' tree was filled with mad-libs about their parents, very sweet.

Next, it was time for a singing performance by all of the preschoolers. They sang 2 songs and they did a fantastic job!

Finally, it was time for the dinner. The dinner wasn't the best but, at least the kiddos had fun!

I can't believe that we only have one more year at Mountain Lutheran. The school has been great for us and the girls.

Mother's Day

I had a very nice Mother's day this year; the girls made me many beautiful handmade creations, my favorite! For breakfast we headed to a coffee shop over at Tivoli Village.

After breakfast we spent sometime at the playground and then headed home for some well deserved, and needed, relaxation.

In the afternoon we packed up our bikes and headed out to a local paved trail that we like. We had a fun, leisurely 4-5 mile ride. What a great way to spend the afternoon.

I am one lucky mama!!

On Monday it was muffins with mom at Abby's school. It was fun to see all the kiddos with their moms enjoying a morning treat.

Abby's Field Day

On Friday, May 1st Abby had her first elementary school field day. Field day is when the whole school gets together on the playground and plays fun relay games. A LOT of them included water! I was sad that I was unable to witness all the fun but no siblings were allowed. I did get forwarded a few picture though...

As you can see she had a great time!

Puppy Pneumonia

Our poor little Ellis has puppy pneumonia. It started with kennel cough and lead into pneumonia. The poor thing was coughing and we didn't recognize it in time. Her cough sounded like she had a hair caught in her throat that she was trying to get up so we didn't take her to the vet until the pneumonia had set in, poor dear. Luckily, it is easily treated. It just means that we have to give her a few medications and wait until her pneumonia is all gone before we can continue with her vaccines.

Essay Complete

On Monday, April 27th Kera drove with me to my school to turn in my application for admittance to the teaching program. I wanted to hand it in personally so that I would know it got there safe and sound. As a treat for making the 45 min drive with me we stopped into a local bakery. I think after Kera tasted the treat she completely forgot about the drive!

Update: Unfortunately, I found out on May 8th that I was not accepted into the program. I need to rewrite my essay and resubmit. I was shocked, I really thought that the essay was just a formality since I passed all of my tests and have received As in all of my classes.

Dirty Dog

On Monday, April 13th Kera and I took Chewy for a VERY needed bath. We took him to a you wash place and had so much fun! Plus, there was an added bonus...we left with a clean dog!

Tests, Puppies, and a Birthday

On April 10th I received some great news, I passed the 3rd Praxis test (writing)! It was such a relief to pass all three of the tests on the first try. Now, the next set in getting into the teaching program is to write a 500 word essay about why I want to be a teacher. I need to get this essay done quickly because there are no more classes I can take without being accepted into the program and I am hoping to take 2 classes in the fall.

On another note, Jim and I have been talking about getting another dog for quite a while and he finally used the excuse of me passing all of my tests to pull the trigger!  Meet Ellie!

Ellie joined our family on Saturday, April 11th and she is a sweet and spunky little girl. She is a goldendoodle just like Chewy but she is a 2nd generation goldendoodle....both of her parents were doodles. On the other hand, Chewy's mom was a golden and his dad was a poodle. The girls are loving their new friend!

I think Jim likes her too!

I am not so sure about Chewy though...

...but I hope he gets used to her soon because unlike the foster dogs this little girl is here to stay!

Last, but definitely not least, the 11th was Burrs's 64th birthday and no birthday is complete without a message from the girls.  Sorry that it is sideways!

Never a slow day in the Roger's house! Especially with a new puppy!

Easter

Our Easter festivities began on Friday, April 3rd with a neighborhood egg hunt with some of Abby's school and neighborhood friends.

After the egg hunt it was time for a picnic....

...of course with bunny sandwiches!

On Saturday we were off to another egg hunt with friends. This time with MANY more people and MANY more eggs.

On Saturday night we decorated our eggs for the Easter bunny.

Before the girls went to bed on Saturday night they left a carrot for the Easter bunny hoping for a visit. When they woke up on Sunday they were not disappointed.

Finally, it was time for our own egg hunt.

The girls were very thankful they both drew thank you notes for the Easter Bunny.

Next, it was off for our annual Easter hike up at Mount Charleston. It was a very windy day but, we still had fun!

Then it was off to the lodge.

For hot chocolate of course!

Another fun Easter in the books!

Ok...one more Easter thing. In Kera's ballet class the week after Easter they dressed up as Easter bunnies. All the little kiddos were so cute!
