Chapter Books

Jim has started reading Abby chapter books at night. Their first book was The Wizard of Oz, then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, and now they are on to Charlotte's Web.

It is fun to see them bonding together and seeing her imagination flourish!

7 Year Itch

7 years ago on May 19th Jim and I were married on a beautiful beach in Key Largo.

In our 7 years of marriage we have had some amazing things happen to us! When we got married we had been living in Illinois for a year but since then we have moved to Las Vegas, Maryland, and then Las Vegas again. We have had 2 beautiful girls and endless supplies of adventures. I am looking forward to many more adventures to come!

For our anniversary we spent a lot of quality time together! First, on Sunday the 18th we headed out for sushi at our favorite sushi spot, Sushi Bomb. To our amazement Abby LOVES sushi and can not get enough raw salmon!

Kera is not good with sushi yet so, we brought her meal in but, she still had a great time.

On Monday the 19th is was business as usual...Jim had work, Abby had school, and Kera had dance but, we still decided to have another meal out together this time, another family favorite, Gordon Biersch.

Next anniversary maybe Jim and I will get some alone time but until then I can't think of 2 other people that I would rather spend our anniversary with!

SNAKE!!

On Thursday, May 15th as I was walking inside from the pool I spotted this little girl by out back door...

We later found out that she is a female ground snake. They bite but their venom is not dangerous to humans. BUT...I AM NOT A SNAKE FAN!!!

Jim was able to trap her using pool cleaning supplies and a garden bucket.

We let her go in the neighboring empty field. Since we caught our snake we have seen a few more roaming our neighborhood...at least they are pretty!

Mother's Day Weekend

On Saturday, May 10th Abby leaned a new trick!

On the previous Monday the girls and I were having a play date with some friends and one of the little girls we were with is able to ride her bike without training wheels. Abby was a bit upset that she couldn't do it to so, we let Abby try her friend's bike AND...she was able to peddle a few pumps on her own. The following weekend we took Abby's training wheels off and as you can see from above she did great! As you can imagine, she was quite concerned at first but, in no time she was off!

To celebrate Abby's success we spent the afternoon in the pool.

The girls are becoming GREAT swimmers. Kera is really comfortable in her floatie and Abby can now dive down and collect things off the bottom of the pool...in the deep end!

On Mother's Day we headed up to the Mt. Charleston Lodge for a beautiful breakfast!

LOVE this view...

 ...and my girls!

I was also given some very nice cards, flowers, and drawings!

Also, Abby made this GREAT project at school for Mother's and Father's Day.

Being a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done but, I wouldn't trade my girls in for anything!

Looks like an ordinary box....

Looks like an ordinary box....

...but it isn't.

Boxes are always a big hit in this house!

Teacher Appriciation Day

Abby has had some great teachers this year, Ms. Sharon, Ms. Lina, and Ms. Phyllis. To honor them for teacher appreciation day Abby made them a really cute craft...

Abby did not have school on teacher appreciation day but, we went to school anyways to drop off her gifts. Her teachers had wonderful reactions to their gifts. Actually, Ms. Sharon immediately hung it up in her class room which made Abby very happy. Thank you Ms. Sharon, Ms. Lina, and Ms. Phyllis for a great year!

Hime Depot, Swimming, and Tadpoles

On Saturday, May 3rd went to Home Depot for their kid's workshop and had a great time! This time, they made flower planters....

Kera did a GREAT job pounding in the nails!

Abby, watch out for Papa's fingers!

Not only did we make a cute planter but, we also got free plants!
The plants we were given were too big for the planters so, we bought a couple cute cactus.

We had so much fun that I pre-registered us for the next month's workshop. Next time, they will be making a toy riding lawn mower.

Next thing on the agenda for our Saturday, a nice swim...

On Sunday, we headed out to Calico Basin were we heard rumor that there were a few tadpoles in a stream.

A few was a HUGE understatement there were THOUSANDS...which is funny because Jim and I have never seen a frog here in the dessert but, they were sure fun to see.

There was also some great spring color on our hike...

On Sunday Abby and I also got into a fight...a paint fight. I was teaching her about primary and secondary colors and then, this happened...

Who new red + blue was SO MESSY and SO FUN!

On Thursday, May 1st we attended A Night of Fine Arts at Abby's school. Abby's class sang Jesus Loves Me...

..with sign language!

After a few other classes sung we were treated to the student's art and science projects.

It was a very nice night.

Teddie

The Monday after Jo Ann left we had another visitor...

...Teddie. Teddie is my Aunt Ellen and Uncle Larry's dog. Ellen and Larry flew in on Monday for a few days to stay at a place near the strip and Teddie stayed with us. Teddie is a very sweet little girl and Chewy and Billy were great with her but, Teddie had a few issues with our house. Miss Teddie is not accustom to going to the bathroom on the rocks of Las Vegas instead, she much preferred our carpet. Unfortunately I had to clean-up one too many messes but the girls LOVED having her here. Abby even brought a picture of Teddie into her school for show and tell.

Also, while my Aunt and Uncle were here the girls and I went down to the strip to meet them for lunch at Serendipity and then, we finally made it to the Secrete Garden.

While we were at the Secrete Garden Siegfried from Siegfried and Roy was walking around taking pictures with people....funny since we had just driven by one of his houses a few days before. It was nice to see him there because it is Siegfried and Roy's Secrete Garden.
