Burrs!!!

On Monday, October 5th my mom came to town for an extended stay. Unfortunately, it was not the most exciting trip for Burrs but she sure did help me with my weekly routines.

On Tuesday we have soccer practice.

On Wednesday we have a standing play date with Kera's preschool friends.

On Thursday Burrs helped Jim hold down the fort while I was off at class.

On Friday we have another soccer practice.

On Saturday Abby had a soccer game.  Abby did a great job as goalie leading the Ladybugs to a win.

On Sunday we went to my first, and last, ever renaissance festival. It was extremely hot on Sunday and the festival was a bit lack luster but, we tried to make the best of it!

Best parts of the festival was the HUGE pizza slices...

...and the jousting bout.

I have always wanted to go to a renaissance festival and I am glad we went now...my curiosity has been quenched.

Next week my mom will still be with us to experience another full week with us.

Soccer Saturday & Church Sunday

On Saturday, September 26th was a great day for soccer! We started off the morning with some special pancakes.

Next up, soccer!

The girls had a GREAT game and earned their first win of the season. PLUS, ABBY GOT A GOAL!!! It was an amazing goal and we were do excited for her!!

On Sunday was Nation Milk Chocolate Day. Yes, that is right, Nation Milk Chocolate Day.

The it was off to Kera's school for a singing performance by the preschoolers to honor a long time teacher, Miss Patty, that just retired. All the kids did a lovely job.

Getting Ready for Halloween!

The girls decided that  this year they wanted to be Star Wars characters for Halloween. The girls, especially Abby, have a full on obsession with Star Wars. Abby wants to be Princess Leah...

...and Kera wants to be Padme. Padme is Princess Leah's mom from the Star Wars 1, 2, and 3 prequels.  Padme has a lot of different outfits and of course Kera chose one that is in the 2nd movie for about 2 seconds...and pretty difficult to make.

Due to me being in school I knew I had to get working on Halloween costumes early this year. Here is a picture that Kera took of me working on her dress  back on September 21st.

By the 25th I was done with Kera's costume and, let me tell you, it was no easy feet. There was no pattern for this dress so it involved me doing a lot of draping and guessing but, I think it turned out pretty good!

Now onto Abby's costume...luckily I have a pattern for hers.

SPIDER!!

Look who we found in our back yard!

This is the second time we have seen at tarantula in our neighborhood but, it is the first time we have seen one in our yard. Instead of being scared we were all fascinated by this furry 8 legged creature and we hope that it will come and visit us again soon.

1st Soccer Game & Tooth Fairy

In last August Abby joined her first soccer team. They practice twice a week and Abby loves it; as soon as practice is over she is instantly asking me when she gets to play again. It is so much fun seeing her enjoy something that I grew up playing.

On Saturday, September 12th Abby's team, the Ladybugs, had their first game. Unfortunately the girls lost but they still had so much fun and so did Jim and I.

Abby and her friend Jovie.

Abby played goalie for half of the game and did GREAT!

After the game we headed to Einstein's for a well earned bagel breakfast sandwich.

That night as I was upstairs taking a shower Jim was feeling Abby's very wiggly tooth, gave it a tug, and out it came. Abby was not thrilled with the blood in her mouth...

But once the bleeding stopped Abby was excited that her tooth was finally out.

Abby decided to write the tooth fairy a note.

"From Abby and my tooth,
I hope you like it.
Be nice to my tooth.
Your tooth now."

We tucked Abby's note and her tooth into her new tooth fairy pillow and waited anxiously to see what happens next.

Goodnight sweet Abby.

Abby was surprised when she woke-up and found out that she had a visitor, her tooth fairy Lilly Anna.

In her pillow Abby found a small certificate wrapped-up in dental floss and a troy ounce of silver, Lilly Anna was very generous!
