Snow = Swimming

On Monday (3/25) we actually woke-up to a bit of snow. The calendar says that it is spring but these next pictures will suggest something completely different...

What better to do on a snow day...go swimming of course! We actually had plans already to go swimming with some friends of ours but, it made it much more fun with the snow!

Left to right: Abby, Lucca, Jack, and Kera

We had a lot of fun! I was also very happy to see how well the girls did in the water after not being in it all fall and winter.

It continued to snow throughout the day but, when we woke up the next morning the snow was practically gone.

Finally a Nice Saturday!

This past Saturday was a brisk but nice day and we were able to get out as a family to do a bit of exploring (something we have very much missed during the winter months). We grabbed our bikes and headed to Great Falls National Park. It was amazingly beautiful! The "Falls" where not like I am used too (off of a mountain peak) these falls were more like saver rapids.

After we checked out the falls we got on our bikes and headed out for a bike ride.

It was a short ride but VERY hilly! Once we got to the top of a VERY VERY long hill the girls wanted to get out and walk a bit. While off the bike the girls had a lot of fun looking for pretty rocks!

When the girls were ready to get back on the bike we checked out another trail. It was hilly but beautiful! It fallows a high ridge above the river.

After we finished biking we took in another view of the falls...

...and had a picnic lunch.

What a FANTASTIC day! We can't wait until the weekends are consistently nice so that we can get out and be active!

Another Art Showing

This week Abby's art was featured in Glen Mar Church Early Learning Center's 3rd Annual Art Gallery! Ok, ok, so...Glen Mar is Abby's pre-school and all the kids had a piece of art show but...still...we always love Abby's art work. Here are a few pictures...

Abby's picture is the Dish and the Spoon located in the upper middle part of the picture.

Rapunzel...the one with the green boarder.
We love our little artist!

Also...On Monday...Abby's picture was still up at our local library.

St. Patrick's Day Weekend

Abby had a St. Patrick's Day party at school on Thursday. At school the leprechaun brought treats and played tricks on the class. Abby also remembers last St. Patrick's Day and the treats and tricks he brought to our house. The party and her memories made her very excited for the weekend.

On Saturday we headed out to a St. Patrick's Day parade. It was the first St. Patrick's Day parade that we have been to in 4 years and it was Kera's very first parade. We had great fun! The girls loved it and it was so great for us to see their excitement!

On Saturday afternoon we made leprechaun traps. We were hoping to catch a leprechaun so that he could grant us our 3 wishes. The leprechaun traps were covered with pretty drawings and jewels in hopes to attract the leprechaun. We also made a door in the trap and then put tape on the trap floor hoping he would get stuck.

Saturday night we watched one of our favorite St. Patrick's Day movies, Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

While the girls were asleep the leprechaun did indeed visit our house! How do we know? Well unfortunately he got out of the trap but he did leave evidence behind...HIS SHOE!

Abby and Kera were very surprised but Abby was very concerned about making sure that we got the shoe back to the leprechaun. I told her were can try to give it back to him next year.

He also left some treats....

...Lucky Charms and gold coins. The leprechaun also played a few tricks....he turned our milk GREEN. He also pained Abby's thumb nail green...

...and Kera's big toe nail!

Next, breakfast....green pancakes and Lucky Charms...of course!

The rest of the day was very low key we went to the gym and watched more St. Patrick's Day movies.

But, even Chewy was forced to get into the spirit!

Finally, dinner...Corned Beef, cabbage, potatoes, soda bread, and spirits!

What a fun couple of days!

Burrs Comes For A Visit

Last Friday night my mom flew in for a visit. The Girls didn't see her until Saturday but they sure were excited! Abby and Kera woke up before 6:30 on Saturday and I had to try VERY hard to keep them quiet for an hour before I finally let them go wake up Burrs.

The weekend was beautiful so we tried to take full advantage. On Saturday Burrs, the girls, and I headed to Wheaten Regional State Park. A lot of fun was had by all!

After the park we headed to Panera for lunch in downtown Silver Springs. After lunch we walked around a bit and found a farmers market. Unfortunately the market was closing but  my mom still managed to still buy a couple ears of popcorn. The kernels were still on the cob!

Saturday Jim and I were about to go out to dinner...together...alone. We actually headed back to Silver Springs to a small Italian restaurant, Olazzo. It was nice to have dinner alone with my husband.

Sunday was another beautiful day so, we headed to Senica Creek State Park. We had not been there for a while so, this was the perfect chance to do so.

Our visit to Senica was closed out by a picnic lunch and some fun on their amazing recycled tire playground.

On Monday Burrs joined us for our usual Monday activity, Storytime...

(In case you were wondering...Abby's picture is was still displayed).

After storytime...Starbucks...OF COURSE!

Tuesday Abby has school but we still found time to color...

...make cookies...

...play outside...

...and watch a movie.

Every night that my mom was here the girls wanted Burrs to put them to bed...we couldn't refuse.

Unfortunately the time went very quickly and on Wedneaday it was time for Burrs (or Burdsee...as Kera would say it) to head back home but, before we took her to the airport we had a nice breakfast out.

The visit was VERY short but sweet. We are looking forward to Burrs and Pepe coming back to town in June!
