Good Night Kera
Abby has recently started putting Kera to bed...SO SWEET! She "reads" her 2 stories (she has these 2 particular books memorized), sings her 2 songs, and kisses her goodnight. Tonight we got it on video...

The Blizzard That Wasn't
On Wednesday we were predicted to get a lot of snow, 5'' to 10''. All schools were cancelled in preparation. The government was also shut down and so was Jim's office. We were all ready for a good snow storm. What we got was a complete disappointment. We woke up on Wednesday to about an inch and through out the day we lost most of it. The weather was gross but not what was predicted. So...how did we pass the day? SLOWLY!
The morning started with me getting Chewy to his spa treatment...he had a grooming treatment at 7 am. While we waited for Chewy we found ways to entertain ourselves.
Kera and Jim worked on their computers...
Abby walked in what little snow there was...
After 4 hours we got Chewy back...a changed dog!
Abby loved his new furdo...
Abby and Kera kept on saying how cute he was. Abby was happy the next morning to see his hair was still short.
The rest of the afternoon was spent watching the yucky weather...
and playing with play dough...
...and more walking in the snow...
All in all it was a bummer of a snow day. The snow was practically all gone by Thursday.

Sweet Treat With My Sweet Girls
We have been working really hard on potty training Kera and on Friday, March 1st she had a really good break through. To celebrate I took the girls to a local bakery, Touche Touchet Bakery Pastry, for a sweet treat.

First Art Showing
On Monday, February 25th Abby had her very first art showing!
On Mondays we usually go to the library for storytime. While Abby was waiting to leave for the library she was keeping busy doing one of her favorite activities, drawing. When she finished her picture she told me that she wanted to give it to the teacher at the library.
The picture is of Merida from the movie Brave. Merida is accompanied by a blue bird and some nice puffy clouds.
When we arrived at the library Abby walked up to the first children's librarian she saw and gave her the picture. To our pleasant surprise, the librarian hung the picture up for all to see, right underneath the children's section sign. Abby was very proud.
Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me but, in true proud mom fashion, I went back on Tuesday to capture the showing.

Update: We went to the library today Monday, March 4th and her picture was still there.
Update #2: Monday, May 13th...Abby's picture is still up on display!
Update #3: After not being to the library for a few months on Thursday, July 25th the girls and I headed to the library for storytime. This time, Abby's picture was down. She was upset for a few minutes
but she calmed down quickly. Her picture was up for a VERY long time!

President's Day with the Dinosaurs
On President's day we went to the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore. The girls and I had been there with my parents but this was Jim's first visit. We had a fun day exploring the museum.

Valentine's Day
Valentine's was fun this year! The girls, especially Abby, were very into the holiday. To help them understand and enjoy the day even more we did a few holiday crafts...
Jim and I also added hearts to their doors starting on Feb 1st thru the 14th...
Abby helped me make Valentine's for her classmates and other friends...
Valentine's was on a Thursday so, a normally busy day was even busier. In the morning Jim and I gave the girls a few treats, chocolates and valentine's.
Abby had school where she had a very fun Valentine's day party. She came home with a lot of fun Valentine's day treats and cards.
While Abby was at school Kera and I went out for a treat of our own...
Later in the afternoon Abby had dance class...with more valentine's to hand out. When Abby gets dressed up for dance class Kera likes to wear dance clothes too. This time she even let me put her hair up! ADORABLE!
After dance it was time for takeout dinner, I didn't have to cook, and some time with my Valentine's. I am VERY lucky!

My First Born...Billy
I can't believe that Billy turned 14 last July! I got Billy when I was in college so, he has grown-up and seen a lot with me. For example, he has lived in 10 different places with me. Billy has always been a big spunky cat but this last move (Las Vegas to Maryland) has really slowed him down. I don't want to think about the day Billy won't be with us but unfortunately, that day is coming.
Update: I took Billy to the vet a few days after this post and fortunately all of his blood work came back fine but...my poor boy is almost completely blind. I had suspected this but the vet confirmed it..he can only see out of a small spot in his right eye.
