Frozen Sing Along

Like all young girls these days Abby and Kera are completely obsessed with the movie Frozen! We have seen the movie once in the theater and once on the computer. Abby has an Elsa costume. Kera had a baby Anna doll. The girls have a small Elsa and Anna doll. We currently have 3 Frozen books in print and one on their Leap Pad. We also have the sound track on CD....like I said, obsessed!

To help fuel their obsession on Tuesday, February 4th the girls and I joined some of their friends at....

As you can see, all the kids were dressed and ready for the show!

The movie was SO much fun! It was the same movie but all the words to the songs were posted and everyone is encouraged to sing. The theater was not that crowded and I was sitting right behind my girls but, I truly believe that where the loudest singers there.

It was so much fun watching the girls having so much fun!!

Abby turnes 5!!

I can't believe that Abby is 5...a whole hand! It seems like only a yesterday we were brought Abigail Kalin home from the hospital on a cold Sunday Chicago day.

Abby has grown into a smart, beautiful, sensitive, and determined young lady. We are so very proud of her!

The day before Abby's birthday we brought some treats and goodies into her pre-school class.

Abby was excited to wear a new dress and celebrate her birthday with her classmates.

On Wednesday the 29th my parents flew into town to help us celebrate the big 0-5. The girls were thrilled to see them.

For Abby's big day we went ice skating, Abby's new obsession! We had such a great time. The open skate was for 2 hours and Abby was in the ice non-stop for 1 hour and 50 min. We finally told her it was time to go when she would start to skate, go a foot, and fall down and then...get up, go a foot, and fall again...tired girl!

At the ice rink we were also able to rent an assist chair for Kera. Kera had a great time being pushed around the ice.

For Abby's second time on the ice she really quite amazing!

No surprise to us but now, Abby's want to take lessons. We are going to look into it for her after this dance season is over.

Next stop, Starbucks. There is nothing better than hot chocolate after ice skating!!

On Thursday afternoon Abby's friends Rohan and Banyan came over for a visit and to bring a present. Thanks you friends!

So, what does a 5 year old want for her birthday dinner...steak, peas, and apple souse...of course!

Happy birthday to our 5 year old!!

Abby's 5 year old stats...

Super Hero Day

The week of January 27th-31st was Lutheran School week, a.k.a. Sprit week, at Abby's school. Monday was super hero day and, for Abby, that equals princess day...because princesses are super heroes...OF COURSE!

And, DUH, Kera had to dress up too!

Jim's 43rd

We had a low key birthday for Jim this year. His request...no presents and meatloaf...happy birthday my dear!

Disney on Ice!

After Abby's experience at Heavenly she has become obsessed with ice skating! So, when we gave her the choice of having a birthday party or going to see Disney on Ice she quickly decided on Disney on Ice.

There was no photography allowed inside (even though most people didn't follow this rule) so we had to take our photos before we entered.

As you can see the girls were all dressed up and ready to go!

When we were parking Jim was looking around and said, "I don't see anyone else dressed-up"...boy was he wrong. Almost kid was dressed up! Plus, I love that we had another opportunity to wear Abby's Halloween costume!

The girls had an amazing time and actually, they are STILL talking about it. The show was a HUGE success and I don't think Abby regrets for a moment choosing the show over a party!

After an exciting show we had some very tired princesses!

Great Grandma

On January 15th my Grandma and Aunt Ellen came to town for a short visit, they arrived the morning of the 15th and left the afternoon of the 16th.

The girls, well at least Abby, had seen my grandma before but...it had been a very long time!

Kera with her Great Grandma, January 2014

On the day that my grandma arrived we stayed around the house and visited but, on the 16th we all ventured out to Tivoli Village for storytime and lunch.

Abby even volunteered herself to go up to the front of the room to sing...

It was  very fun morning!

It was great having my grandma and aunt in town and to have the girls meet/re-meet their great grandma!

Exploring Vegas

The weekend of the 11th and 12th we stayed around Vegas and had a great time!

On Saturday, we headed out for our first hike of 2014. We so much fun brambling over the rocks at Red Springs.

On Sunday, we headed to the Container Park in downtown Las Vegas. The Container Park is really cool. At the Container Park they took recycled shipping containers and converted them into 250 square foot shops and restaurants. In the middle of the park is a playground made of, what else, containers. The girls had fun exploring this unique playground.

Even the bathrooms were made out of...CONTAINERS! It was a fun place to check out and I can not wait to go back and try out some of their little restaurants.
