Aunt Remy & Uncle Joe

We had a great visit with Joe and Remy the only problem was it was way too short. Remy come in on Wednesday evening but by the time that she got back to our house Abby was already asleep...

So, we had to wait until the next morning for the official meeting...

Abby took to Aunt Remy right away and over the next few days she spent hours in her arms. On Thursday we showed Remy downtown Naperville where Remy took this shot of the 3 of us down at the river walk...

On Friday morning Remy and I went to the friends and family sales at Janie and Jack, one of my favorite baby clothes stores. We got some super cute things for Abby including this adorable bathing suit for the summer...
Friday evening Joe got to town and we had some GREAT home made pizzas. On Saturday morning it was Joe's turn to meet Abby. Abby was puddy in Joe's arms.

On Saturday night we went to a belated birthday dinner at the Greek Isles in Greek town. Every year that we have lived here we have gone to Greek town for my birthday but this last year, with being pregnant, there was no point...I could eat feta. I sure made up for it on Saturday. If the dish didn't include feta there was no point in eating it.

The rest of the weekend we spent relaxing and taking some family photos...

Joe taught Abby how to hold her golf club (made my grandpa Suhler)...

We even had a little snow...yes SNOW in spring!

On Sunday evening Joe and Remy had to head home. Abby loved meeting her aunt and uncle and we loved having them here! We can't wait to be together again!

On Monday Abby had her 2 month doctors appointment and she is doing great! She now is 23 3/4'' long which is in the 90-95% percentile. She weighs 10 lbs 11 oz, which is in the 50% percentile. She is a lean mean baby machine. The funny thing is that she still weighs less than uncle Joe did at birth. Joe was 10 lbs 14 oz. At this appointment she did have to get a few shots which where no fun for Abby, Jim, or me. The shots were important though we have to get our baby her immunizations.

Bedtime With Abby

For about a month now We have had a bedtime routine with Miss Abby...we take her up to her room, change her into her PJs, wash her face and gums. Once she is dressed and washed for bed Jim gives her an evening bottle.

Usually, when Abby is getting her bottle she is holding daddy's hand...

Once she is full I swaddle her up like a burrito and then Jim reads her a story...

Once the story has reached its last page then it is time for kisses and then straight to bed. Abby has become very used to this routine. Even if her eyes are open when we lay her in her crib she is able to put herself to sleep within a few minutes.

She has started sleeping better since we began this routine. Once we put her to bed she is sleeping on average 5 hours. Now we just have to get her to sleep longer from 2 am on.

This bedtime routine has helped us to have a happy baby in the morning...

St. Patrick's Day '09

Last Sunday we headed to Chicago's south side for the annual South Side Irish Parade. It was a beautiful day out and the parade was a lot better than we were expecting. We were expecting a parade full of commercial floats but instead this parade was very family oriented with Irish dancing troops, marching bands, bagpipes, and I think every private school within a 50 mile radius. This is a VERY popular parade Jim, Abby, and I were there with 300,000 of our closest friends.

As you can see...

...Abby was VERY into the parade!

On St. Patrick's day we had a dinner party at our house. We served corn beef, cabbage, champ, home made soda bread, Guinness brownies, and all the Guinness and Jamison you can drink. It was a smaller gathering then we were expecting but but very nice.

March 17th = 17 Guiness...

Bath Time With Abby

Abby's first bath in the hospital was one that we will never forget...she was frantic...

The good news is that she has gotten better with the whole bath thing and here is a video and a few pictures to prove it...

First bath at home...sorry, I was unable to rotate the picture but it is still cute...

2/5/09

2/25/09...there were a few baths in between

What a sweet little girl!

Since I have not been working and been at home during the day I have had a chance to learn what Chewy and Billy do all day long...

...and I really do mean ALL DAY LONG! They are cute...lazy but...cute!

Abby's First Movie...

Last Tuesday Abby saw her first movie...

One of the local movie theaters here offers mom and baby friendly movies...it is great! The first showing of any movie on Tuesday is considered mom friendly...they leave the lights up a bit and the sound is down a little. I think this is a fabulous idea! What a great way to get a few extra people into the theaters on Tuesdays.

We saw Confessions of a Shopaholic. This was a light and entertaining movie and now...I am going to have to read the books.

I look forward to many more movies with Abby!!
